Ms. Dollard received her B.A. and Teaching Credential from San Francisco State University, where she developed a screenplay and a self published book of poems in independent study. She is certified in CLAD, GATE and AP English. She has worked in San Francisco at Phillip and Sala Burton High School where she taught creative writing and 9th through 12th grade English language arts. She currently teaches 9th through 12th English, including honors and AP classes at John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont. Ms. Dollard has also worked as the small learning communities district coordinator for FUSD serving Washington, Irvington and Kennedy High Schools.
After a satisfying career in bookstore management, Ms. Dollard came to the field of education with a unique set of skills that blend business acumen with pedagogy. She finds great fulfillment in working with young people to help them understand their environment and draw their own conclusions about personal and social experiences. She believes that comprehensive reading and writing serve to strengthen critical thinking and communication abilities and for this reason she helped the young people at JFK High School resurrect the school newspaper. Ms. Dollard is committed to encouraging each student to fully claim her or his education and she is very happy to have the opportunity to serve students of Mill Creek Academy.
