While earning an environmental engineering degree at the University of California, Berkeley, Mr. Kiyoi decided that he wanted to do more than just work with numbers — he wanted to share with students his passion for learning. Mr. Kiyoi went on to earn his master’s degree in education from St. Mary’s College, and there developed a handbook for parents to use in assisting their children with middle school algebra. After teaching for six years at Martinez Junior High School, Mr. Kiyoi took a position at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton. He is now in his fifth year of teaching mathematics there and enjoys every minute of it! Currently his assignment includes teaching honors geometry and laptop geometry. His classroom goal is to bring as much diversity to his lessons as possible, enhancing his lectures with games, hands-on discovery activities, and group interaction. He is an avid sports enthusiast and greatly enjoys fantasy sports, computer technology, and woodworking.
