Mr. Gary Ip
Mr. Ip graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Economics. While pursuing his undergraduate work, he developed a passion for numbers and felt that a corporate position in Accounting was a mark for his career. After spending a few years in the field, he realized that the day to day of the job didn’t meet an intrinsic value of satisfaction. Reflecting back to the times when he was most fulfilled, his memories connected back to all the times he worked with students. Soon after, he knew that pursuing a career in Education would be his calling. Obtaining his teaching credential from San Jose State University, he sought a position at Irvington High School where he knew the student population and parent community would be the perfect fit for his curriculum instruction and teaching philosophy.
Since teaching, he has developed an experience for teaching all different math level subjects which include: Foundational Algebra, Honors Geometry, Statistics, and Calculus.
Mr. Ip loves math and makes it his goal to help his students enjoy the subject too. He often gives his students fun puzzles to work on that are satisfying to solve and create excitement about discovering new ways of critically thinking while applying math applications.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Ip can be found dancing with his students from the Hip Hop Club, playing video games, and drinking boba. He is thrilled to be joining the faculty at Mill Creek and looks forward to sharing his passion for math with the students he meets.
