Mr. Nathan Ong
For as long as Mr. Ong can remember, he has worked with children in various capacities his entire life. Upon attending the University of California Irvine, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in History. It was during his undergraduate work where he began to realize that he wanted to enter a career that would impact lives. After all, growing up in a family with educators, it would be a natural fit to enter the field of Education. Having valued his own private school education growing up, he knew a talented teacher could change a child’s life and engagement with learning. Mr. Ong continued his graduate work at the University of California Irvine where he obtained a Single Subject Credential in Social Sciences, in addition to a Masters of Arts in Teaching.
Mr. Ong currently teaches at a private school in Alameda where he has anchored all levels of History: World History, Government, AP Micro and Macro Economics. Having an opportunity to expose students to real life applications that are relevant to history is a continual passion. His love for History extends to his skills in reading and comprehension. Positive and energetic are quality traits that are often described by his students.
When Mr. Ong is not in the classroom challenging his students with the richness of History, he can be found on the basketball courts coaching the school’s JV basketball team. He loves getting involved with new adventures and learning something new! Mr. Ong looks forward to bringing his talents for paper corrections to the young students at Mill Creek Academy.
