Mrs. Emma Barajas

Mrs. Barajas began teaching English for The Tandana Foundation in Otavalo, Ecuador. She then graduated from the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Middle Childhood Education, concentrations in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Upon graduation, she moved from Cleveland, Ohio to pursue a Master’s in Special Education through the PLACE Corps. at Loyola Marymount University. She began teaching middle school language arts in a Catholic school in the vibrant community of Boyle Heights. Shortly after, Mrs. Barajas became the eighth grade teacher. She spent years empowering students through high school preparation, admissions and recommendations. Eager to strengthen her craft, Mrs. Barajas then earned an “English as a New Language” certificate from the University of Notre Dame.
These educational experiences, along with those from her younger years, have been formative and path-directing. Mrs. Barajas also credits much of her professional passion to the extracurriculars from her elementary, high school, and college years. Power of the Pen writing, theater, sports, vocal training, Catholic ministry, University of Dayton Residence Life, and other groups allowed her to develop competence and interests beyond the academic setting.
Mrs. Barajas believes deeply in the power of reading, writing, and speaking well. Paired with strong habits and organization, competence in language truly opens doors. This roots her work with each student and family. Mrs. Barajas looks forward to serving on the Mill Creek Academy team!
