Ms. Erica DeWitt

Ms. DeWitt earned her B.A. in English & Secondary Education as well as her M.A. in English at The College of New Jersey. After graduate school, she served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Suceava, Romania, where she spent a year helping High School and University students to improve at varying levels of English proficiency.
After returning to the United States, Ms. DeWitt began teaching high school English in New Jersey and eventually returned to teach at her alma mater. She currently teaches 9th and 12th grades in her hometown and also enjoys sharing her love of theater as the costumes advisor for the school musicals each year. Additionally, she advises the Future Teachers Club, which provides students with the opportunity to shadow teachers within the school district to get a firsthand look into the day-to-day life of an educator. She hopes to inspire her students to see the positive impact they too can make in the profession.
Outside of teaching, her favorite professional role was during her time spent interning at the Hungarian Ministry of National Resources in Budapest. She spent a semester writing, translating, and editing speeches and international correspondence for the Minister of Education, all while getting to live in her favorite city in the world.
From a young age, Ms. DeWitt has experienced the influence of storytelling. From growing up hearing her refugee parents’ narrative of escape from the Soviet Bloc, to seeing the wonder in her own children’s eyes when they hear their favorite tales, to helping her students articulate their own stories, Ms. DeWitt believes everyone has a powerful story to tell, and she loves helping students discover theirs. She is excited to be part of the stellar team at Mill Creek, supporting students through the college application journey.
