Ms. Heather Richey
Heather Richey has been an integral part of Mill Creek Academy since 1999. A popular and respected teacher of elementary through high school students, she has proven her ability to help them hone their writing skills and increase their grammar knowledge. Many of her SAT Writing students find her passion for English contagious and even report that they found the SAT’s “easy” after taking her class. In fact, Mrs. Richey has been credited not only with helping her students do better in school, but also with helping them gain entrance into the nation’s top universities.
Mrs. Richey’s respect for and love of language is anchored in her education: She earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication at CSU Hayward, her TESOL certificate from UC Berkeley, and her teaching credential from the St. Mary’s College School of Education. Her extensive experiences in writing and in teaching others to speak English combined in her to form a deep appreciation for the empowering nature of language and an understanding that any idea we have — be it large or small — is virtually useless if we cannot express it clearly to others. This belief fuels her passion to help her students become the articulate adults today’s world requires.
When she is not working at Mill Creek, Mrs. Richey enjoys spending time with her husband (MCA teacher Kurt Richey) and her three boys.
