Ms. Kat Schumacher
Ms. Schumacher is a New York-based writer and educator who has also lived in Italy, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. She developed her passion for reading and writing early on, growing up in a no-screen household where her parents encouraged her to invent her own stories. After living abroad for much of her childhood, she attended a private New York City high school and then received her B.A. in History from Columbia University magna cum laude.
Since graduating, Ms. Schumacher has worked as an independent tutor in New York, specializing in analytical essay-writing and helping students develop the critical thinking skills needed to excel in private school. She is bilingual in English and Italian, and has also taught both languages at home and abroad. In parallel, she has built a career as a fiction author, publishing her debut novel in 2022. Her other work has included running creative writing seminars for aspiring authors, teaching the British 11+ exam to London-based middle school students, and translating into Italian for a major company.
In her free time, she enjoys museums, musical theater, and exploring new cities. Ms. Schumacher is delighted to be working with students at Mill Creek Academy on their college application essays and helping them build confidence in their writing.
