Ms. Michele Grimes
Ms. Grimes is a native of Kansas City but has also spent time living and teaching in the Southwest where she was a high school English teacher and basketball coach. Ms. Grimes attended a private high school in Kansas City and it was there where she was inspired by her English teacher and developed a passion for writing and extracting meaning from literature. Ms. Grimes went on to attend the University of Missouri where she earned her Bachelor’s in Secondary English Education. Upon graduation, she went on to teach English for a few years at the middle level, before eventually relocating to the Phoenix area where she taught high school English and Psychology for an additional 5 years. While in Phoenix, Ms. Grimes earned her Master’s in Counseling and Human Relations from Northern Arizona University. After teaching for many years, she went on to become a school counselor.
Ms. Grimes has 10+ years of experience as a school counselor. She currently is a high school counselor at a prestigious school in the Kansas City area. Ms. Grimes also holds another Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Pittsburg State and previously spent two years as a high school assistant principal. Ms. Grimes possesses a strong passion to guide, lead and inspire others to bring about positive change and strive for excellence. She has strong communication skills, the respect of peers, and values genuine and meaningful relationships with her students and the entire school community.
In her free time, she loves watching her two high school aged children compete in their athletic events. She also loves spending time with her Miniature Schnauzer, Max, and her fiance’ who is also a high school educator and basketball coach.
She is excited to join the Mill Creek Academy team and support student learning and growth throughout the college application process.
