Ms. Priscilla Jih
Ever since Ms. Jih can remember, she has always had a passion and desire for elementary education. She envisioned at an early age the dream of one day educating young minds and helping students develop a sense of confidence through their own education. Beginning her teaching journey, Ms. Jih graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal and Civic Studies and along a Minor in Psychology from Saint Mary’s College. Upon her undergraduate studies, knowing that a career in the field of Education was her ultimate destiny. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College at the graduate level where completed her five-year “Teachers for Tomorrow” program which started upon her undergraduate time at St. Mary’s. Receiving her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and her Masters in Arts in Education also at Saint Mary’s College, she has valued her private school experiences. However, throughout her time at Saint Mary’s, she has had the opportunity to teach in different public school districts throughout the Bay Area, including Oakland, Concord, Moraga, and Walnut Creek. Each experience helped her learn and develop her own teaching philosophy. Developing a pedagogy that would allow her to create a safe learning environment while maintaining a sense of academic rigor and excellence became her teaching focus. Working to instill a desire for life-long learning has been a focal point for her students.
Currently, she teaches fifth grade at a local private school in Fremont, a private school sector that allows her to teach in small classroom settings. She aspires to make learning engaging and exciting for all her students. Finding ways to make curriculum fun and meaningful has become a foundation for her teaching.
When she is not teaching, Ms. Jih loves to travel and enjoys capturing her adventures through digital scrapbooking! She is excited to join the Mill Creek Academy family and is looking forward to sharing her passion for teaching with the elementary grade level students.
