Ms. Cheri Sabraw (Founder)

Cheri Block Sabraw has been teaching writing, journalism, and literary analysis since 1972. She anchored the Mission San Jose High School junior honors program from 1985-1998. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of the Pacific, she was the 1972 commencement speaker for the School of Education.

Mrs. Sabraw holds a Life Credential in English from the State of California and completed her English major at San Jose State University and the University of California, Berkeley. As a teacher at Mission San Jose High School, she received numerous commendations and awards for Excellence in the Classroom from Stanford University, the University of Chicago, San Jose State University, and the University of California. She was Mission San Jose High School’s Teacher of the Year in 1992.

Her former students were accepted at many outstanding universities including UC Berkeley, Stanford, Yale, Columbia, Harvard, Duke, University of Chicago, M.I.T., Cal Tech, Rice, Princeton, Brown, University of Michigan, Cornell, St. John’s College, Dartmouth, USCD and many others.

Mrs. Sabraw graduated from Stanford University in June, 2014, with a Master of Liberal Arts degree. Her thesis concerned the work of Anglo-German author, W.G. Sebald. She focused her research on his 2001 novel Austerlitz and contended that it represented a portable memorial to the Holocaust.
